SYNS Science Slam & Travel Grant 2017

The department of neurosurgery at the University Hospital Zurich celebrates its 80th anniversary and will fund an exceptional travel grant for young neurosurgeons on this occasion.

 

The winner of a special “Science Slam Session” organised at the next SYNS-Session during the 2017 Joint Annual Meeting of the Swiss Societies of Neurosurgery and Neuroradiology in Berne (June 9, 2017, 16.00-17.00) will be awarded.

 

The grant is intended to allow the winner of the slam session to attend a scientific meeting of his choice in supporting the travel and related meeting expenses up to a total of CHF 1500,-.

 

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • All neurosurgical residents currently working in Switzerland
  • First or second author of an original work published in a peer reviewed journal as of January, 2016
  • Application has to be received by April 1st, 2017 
  • Applications have to be submitted personally

Terms & Conditions

  • Among all applicants, four final candidates will be selected by an international jury to present their paper in a 15min talk at the SYNS-Session during the 2017 Joint Annual Meeting of the Swiss Societies of Neurosurgery and Neuroradiology in Berne  (June 9, 2017, 16.15-17.15)
  • The finalists are requested to present their original work in a generally understandable and entertaining way. The quality of the scientific work as well as the degree of entertainment provided shall be valued equally.
  • The winner will be chosen among the four final candidates by the public

What is funded

  • Meeting registration fees
  • Travel expenses (train 2nd class/flight economy fare)
  • Housing expenses
  • It is mandatory to have a private Swiss bank account to receive the grant
